About me
Hello!
I’m Felipe Yamahata, a 31-year-old audiovisual professional from Brazil. My main area of expertise is audio, where I have the most experience. Roles such as sound design, location sound recording, and music production are a few examples of my work.
My journey into audio began with music, specifically as a musician, producer, recordist, and mixer. This background provided me with the skills for taking the opportunity in an audiovisual project that appeared. And, from the very first experience, I’ve been developing a deep interest in all other aspects of production
I have a passion for technical processes. I don't know why. But I know that this curiosity is driven by the belief that a multidisciplinary perspective enhances my specialized work. My background as a musician and producer helps me to understand and apply principles like rhythm, structure, and balance in visual storytelling. Conversely, understanding visual concepts helps me to perceive the abstract and subjective nature of sound with much more clarity.
This realization led me to pursue theoretical and practical studies in camera operation, cinematography, lighting, and editing in order to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of the entire creative process, allowing me to apply this growing understanding to real-world projects, though I know there's still so much to learn!
Throughout my career, I've had the pleasure of working with people who made me feel welcomed, respected, and encouraged. This gave me the security and confidence to take new steps and face new challenges. My mistakes were never treated with embarrassment but rather as opportunities for growth. Without a doubt, these people were instrumental in shaping me as a professional, and it is this same supportive atmosphere that I am committed to fostering in every collaboration.
This portfolio showcases my work to date. I hope it serves as a valuable introduction, and I look forward to the opportunity to expand it through new and challenging collaborations in the future!
